Provincial Nominee Program
Every Canadian province as well as the Yukon and Northwest Territories operate a Provincial Nominee Program aimed at attracting and retaining skilled non-Canadians that provide the business experience, education and expertise required to improve and enhance the unique economies of each geographic area. Quebec has a unique program that is not technically a provincial nominee program but is unique to this province and called the Quebec Skilled Worker Program.
There are great advantages to utilizing the Provincial Nominee Programs as a path to Permanent Residency to Canada if they are available to you. If a province approves your nomination, you may be eligible to receive a Work Permit prior to your application for Permanent Residence being finalized. These programs are definitely worth investigating if you are any of the following:
• A graduate of a Canadian post-secondary institution;
• Are currently working in Canada as a temporary foreign worker;
• Have the financial means and are interested in opening a business in Canada;
All Nominee Programs have specific requirements that are subject to frequent changes. Links are available below for your review. You will quickly see that each category and province is very specialized and can be complicated to understand and/or know whether or not you are eligible.
